Saving Electricity this summer

Hey Casali Lab Team!

During these wonderful summer months it is always important to realize the huge energy burden that is placed on our electrical power supplies given the higher demand for energy during this time of the year. As we all know power oiutages have occurred and are not unheard of in this building. Therefore it behoves to do our part to help the situation. Here are some ways in which we can accomplish this.

1. Turn off your computers before you go home or if you will not be using it for extended periods of time.
2. Turn off all laboratory instruments that are not in use. Examples include, PCR machines, shakers, incubators, the microscope room etc.
3. Keep the temperature reasonable in the lab. Do not turn down the temperature to more than comfortable levels.
4. Turn off the lights before you leave and keep unnecessary lights turned off.
5. Unplug instruments that are not in use.

Using these steps we can ensure a more efficient function of our lab as well as safegaurding against future risks of outages due to unreasonable energy demands.

With that in mind let us continue to enjoy this beautiful sunny weather!

Summer and 4th of July

Hey Casali Lab Team,

While as I write most of us are on vacation, there are still those unsung heroes that remain in lab to push forward during those hot summer months. Undoubtedly though, the absence of the remaining members does leave those who have stayed behind a bit lonely. On the bright side no more competing for reagents lol!!

The good news is, July 4th is coming soon! During this national holiday, we do not only sit back and reminisce about the independence of our country, but we do it as we enjoy our own, albeit short lived, independence from work! Whoever said there is no such thing as a free lunch probably didnt live here...

Have a wonderful 4th of July vacation everyone, and for those of you who are currently away on vacation and abroad, take care of yourselves out there, and come home safe and happy!
